Roman Numerals

Seven letters in total were used to represent all of the numbers- I, V, X, L, C, D, and M. The letters were placed either in front or behind one another to lower or increase the value.

Ex. IV- 4 (one less than five); VI- 6 (one more than five); XC- 90 (10 less than 100)
